Oh My! A lot has happened since the last time I blogged here and I am willing to share all about it. Welcome back to blogging from my end and a hearty...
Happy 2021!
I needed to start with wishing you the best of the new year for many obvious reasons but also because this is my first post of the year.
Quite a lot has happened in the blogosphere globally and alot a few things have also happened to me since before 2021 dawned.
Coping and learning from the boom of the online space, especially online learning due to COVID 19, and its attendant lockdowns (still on going in some countries), has left me with a lot to write about as I resume blogging and teaching blogging this year. I have carefully written some of them below.
- To blog in 2021, you must understand giving people solutions and not just information and gist. That means even if your tone and style is gisty, you must have the end in sight which is to have given answers to your readers' question.
- Write down your blog post ideas, as answers to questions your ideal blog subscriber has. This is easier when you have defined your niche, who your blog business serves and who your blog reader is.
- Input those topic ideas into a calendar and maintain your schedule. Be businesslike about your blog this year, get off that hobby mindset. (I am talking to myself too)
- Your blog niche must be specific and focused on serving a particular person
- Writing alone, may no longer cut it as videos, audio and graphical representations go a long way to serve a variety of your audiences. Learn to repurpose your content in these various media formats and serve on your other channels for blog customer acquisition.
- Creating a 'show' around your niche or topic will help you get ahead and sets you apart from your competition. A Facebook or Instagram live show is great, or more so a dedicated YouTube channel.
- After understanding your niche, get on to identify and write down your blog categories and develop a free digital product (freebie) for each of them. A blog category freebie is your sales funnel opener. Do not ignore this.
- Create a community around your blog business using an email list. Capture, Capture, Capture! Your freebies are your weapons. You can also get your subscribers into a private Facebook group if you can.
- Market your blog posts longer, and in various platforms and collaborations than you go creating a new blog post this year. Quality + traction over quantity!
I definitely will bring more of this in my next post. For now, apply these to your blog, and comment below let me know which one you are going to implement in addition to your own arsenal of discoveries.
NB: I dropped the Jenny Chisom name, and now answer Chisom Utibe-Akah, incase you were looking out for me recently and couldn't find me. LOL
